Yesterday, I had the pleasure of performing jazz at Le Petit Tonneau in Toranomon!
The members included bassist Kumiko Imakiire, with whom I've previously performed, and violinist & vocalist Reina, with whom it was my first time collaborating! We focused on playing songs beloved in France and music from films.
Since I usually perform jazz, I was initially unsure about these selections, but as I found common ground between these songs and jazz, I think we managed to play them well! There were also similarities with my beloved Gypsy jazz, which made me appreciate French music even more. While there were still some parts I wasn't quite used to, I’m eager to have another opportunity to perform these kinds of numbers soon!
Reina's violin playing was magnificent, evoking the scenery of France. I can’t wait to perform with these three again!
